Morphé
Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 October 2026
These terms form the licence agreement for Morphé, the Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino. They set out what you may do with the software, what we undertake to do for you, and what happens when a subscription begins, renews or ends.
Who you are contracting with. Morphé is published by Metamorphic Additive Manufacturing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13634827, whose registered office is at Osprey House, Pegasus Business Park, Castle Donington, Nottingham, DE74 2TQ, United Kingdom. Our VAT registration number is GB 421 625 720. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company, and "you" means the person or organisation to whom the licence is issued.

1. Who sells Morphé, and what this document is
Morphé is sold through Stripe under Stripe's Managed Payments service, which makes Stripe the merchant of record: the seller in the payment transaction. Stripe takes your payment, calculates and accounts for VAT and equivalent sales taxes, issues your receipt and invoice, and administers refunds and card disputes. Stripe's own terms govern the payment itself, and you may raise a payment or subscription query with Stripe's support directly as well as with us.
This document is not the contract of sale. It is the licence agreement for the software: the permission we grant you to run Morphé, and the undertakings we give about it. Nothing in it limits any rights you have against Stripe as seller, or any rights consumer law gives you that cannot be excluded by agreement.
You accept these terms by ticking the box at checkout, or by activating a licence key in Morphé. If you do so on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.
2. The licence we grant you
While your subscription is paid and current, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Morphé on the number of seats you have purchased.
- A standard licence may be used for any work, commercial or otherwise.
- An education licence is for study, teaching and academic research only. Section 9 sets out who may buy one and the conditions attached.
You own the geometry, models, meshes and files you create with Morphé. We claim no rights in them.
You do not own Morphé. The software, its source code and its documentation remain ours or our licensors'. This is a licence to use the software, not a sale of it.
3. What you may not do
- Share, resell, sub-licence, rent, lend or publish your licence key.
- Use one seat on more computers than the seat permits, or circumvent the activation system by any means, including altering the stored licence file, spoofing a machine identifier or setting your computer's clock back.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Morphé, except to the extent the law gives you a right to do so that cannot be excluded by agreement.
- Remove or obscure any notice of ownership in the software.
- Repackage Morphé, or any part of it, into another product.
Writing Grasshopper definitions that use Morphé components, selling the geometry you produce, and using Morphé on client work under a standard licence are all permitted. None of that is restricted.
The open-source components distributed with Morphé carry their own licences, described in section 23, and nothing above narrows what those licences allow.
4. Seats, computers and moving between them
One computer per seat. A standard subscription may be purchased with 1 to 25 seats, and each seat activates Morphé on one computer. Three seats therefore run Morphé on three computers.
Morphé identifies a computer by a one-way fingerprint that cannot be reversed into anything about your machine. The Privacy Policy explains what is sent and stored.
You may move a seat to another computer yourself, as often as you need. On the computer you are leaving, open Morphé → Activate / Manage Licence and select Deactivate this computer; then activate on the new computer with the same key.
Deactivation requires an internet connection on the computer being released. The seat is held by a registration on our licence server, and only that server can release it. If Morphé cannot reach the server, it makes no change at all and tells you so, rather than clearing itself and leaving the seat occupied indefinitely.
After deactivation your licence key stays on that computer, encrypted, so that you can activate it again with one click. Choose Forget key in the licence dialog before passing a computer to someone else.
If a computer has been lost or stolen, its disk has failed, or it is being returned or wiped and will not be online again, please email support@morphe-design.app and we will release the seat for you.
Renaming a Windows computer changes its fingerprint and requires re-activation. Docking a laptop, connecting a network adapter or installing a VPN does not.
5. Working offline
Morphé does not require an internet connection in order to run. When it checks in with our licence server it downloads a signed authorisation valid for 14 days and operates from that. You may therefore work offline for up to 14 days at a time; a single connection begins the window again.
From day 7 of the window, Morphé prints one line to the Rhino console each session asking you to reconnect. If the 14 days elapse without a check-in, Morphé stops producing output until it can reach the server; section 12 describes exactly what stopping means. Setting your computer's clock back by more than a day has the same effect, with a message asking you to connect.
6. Subscription, renewal and cancellation
Morphé is sold on subscription, billed monthly or annually according to the plan you choose.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in force, using the payment method you gave at checkout, and continue to renew until cancelled. There is no minimum term. We remind you by email, each time with the amount: 7 days before a free trial ends; 30 days and again 7 days before a yearly renewal; and on a monthly plan, 7 days before a payment once every six months. Stripe, which takes the payments, may send reminders of its own as well.
You may cancel at any time, without giving a reason, from the customer portal at morphe-design.app/subscription. The same link appears in most of the emails we send you. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you continue to work until that date and are not billed again. If you cannot use the portal, email support@morphe-design.app; any clear statement that you wish to cancel is enough. We confirm every cancellation by email on the day it is made, with the date it takes effect.
One request ends a subscription at once: if you ask Stripe, or Onelink, to delete your data, Stripe cancels the subscription there and then, and the licence stops the same day, whatever remains of the period you have paid for. The Privacy Policy, section 8, explains.
Within 14 days of subscribing, of the first payment after a free trial, and of each yearly renewal, you may instead cancel and have that payment refunded in full; section 13 explains.
You may also change plan (monthly to annual, or the reverse) and change your seat count in the same portal, which shows the date a change takes effect before you confirm it.
- Adding seats, and moving from monthly to annual, take effect at once and are prorated: you are credited for the unused part of the current period and charged for the new price or seat count over the remainder of it, on one invoice.
- Removing seats, and moving from annual to monthly, take effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, without a credit. You keep the seats, or the annual plan, until then.
- Moving from annual to monthly and changing your seat count in the same step takes effect at once. The unused part of the year is credited to your account and used towards your following payments; it is not paid back to your card.
7. The free trial
The monthly and education plans include a 14-day free trial. The annual plan does not; it is charged at checkout.
- Your payment details are taken at checkout, before the trial begins. Nothing is charged at that point.
- During the trial the licence is fully functional. No feature is limited.
- At the end of the 14 days your payment method is charged automatically and the subscription becomes a paid one, unless you cancel first.
- Cancel at any point during the trial and you are not charged.
- We email you 7 days before the trial ends, with the date and the amount of the first payment. Stripe also emails you, to confirm the subscription when the trial begins and again before it ends.
- If the first payment is taken and you change your mind, you have 14 days from that payment to cancel and have it refunded in full (section 13).
- One free trial per subscriber every six months, whatever the number of seats. A new subscription on the monthly or education plan starts with a trial, but if the email address you subscribe with — for the education plan, your university address — has had a Morphé licence in the last six months, the trial is ended on the day you subscribe and the first payment is taken then. The email that brings your key says so. You can still cancel from the subscription page, and the 14 days to cancel for a full refund (section 13) run from that day, as they would from any paid start.
8. Prices, VAT and your bank statement
Prices are quoted excluding VAT, with the total including UK VAT beside them. VAT, or the equivalent sales tax in your jurisdiction, is added at checkout and displayed before you pay. A price quoted as "£39 a month + VAT (£46.80 including UK VAT)" therefore means £39 plus the VAT applicable to you, which outside the UK may differ from the UK total. The total to be charged appears on the checkout page above the payment button. Where Stripe presents the price in your local currency, the converted amount is shown before you pay.
We may change our prices. We give at least 30 days' notice of a change by email, and it applies from the first renewal after that notice. It never applies to a period you have already paid for. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before that renewal and you will not be charged again.
On your bank or card statement, a Morphé charge appears as
LINK.COM* MORPHE, or ONELINK* MORPHE for a payment made at checkout.
The first payment after a free trial appears as LINK.COM* TRIAL OVER.
Link, or Onelink, is Stripe's own payment brand, which is why the entry does not begin with our
name. If you see one of these entries and do not recognise it, it is us.
Please email support@morphe-design.app before
raising a dispute with your bank; we will resolve it the same way, and considerably
faster.
9. Education licences
Education pricing is intended for people currently in academia, and it carries conditions.
Who may purchase one, and what it may be used for
Current students, and current academic staff or researchers only. Education licences are sold to individuals, one seat each.
An education licence is for study, teaching and academic research. It may not be used for commercial or professional work, including freelance or consultancy work undertaken while studying. If you carry out paid client work with Morphé, you require a standard licence.
How eligibility is checked
The education checkout page asks for your university email address as a required field. That address is checked against a list of recognised academic domains, and if it is recognised your licence key is issued immediately.
Your licence key is sent to that university address only. Delivery is how we confirm the address exists, and it is the only verification an education licence receives. If you pay with a personal card, the confirmation of payment goes to your billing address as usual and the key goes to your university mailbox; the key email says so and names the billing address, so that it is clear where each message has gone.
If no address you give is recognised, your purchase is held rather than refused. We email you asking for your university email address, or the domain your institution uses, and check it by hand. Your key is issued once eligibility is confirmed. A held purchase is still within its free trial, so nothing has been charged. If we have heard nothing from you by the date our email gives, two or three days before the trial ends, we cancel the subscription, so that you are not charged for a licence you never received.
The twelve-month term
An education licence runs for twelve months from the start of the first paid month and then ends. The end date is set on your subscription from the day you buy it, so your customer portal shows "cancels on" that date from the outset. On that date billing and access stop together: you are never charged for a month in which Morphé does not run, and no refund arises.
The licence is renewable. Approximately 30 days before the end date we email you at your university address asking you to confirm that you still qualify. Reply and we move the end date forward by a year. If we hear nothing, the subscription ends on the date.
A licence that has ended may be purchased again at any time through the education link, which re-runs the eligibility check. If you have left academia you may move to a standard licence: do so in the customer portal, or ask us and we will help.
10. Licences bought on a quotation
Licences purchased on a quotation and paid by invoice are governed by these terms together with the quotation or order, which takes precedence where the two differ. The quotation states the term of the licence and the payment terms.
Invoiced sales fall outside Stripe's Managed Payments. For those sales we are the seller and VAT is charged by us.
11. If a payment fails or is disputed
Nothing stops working the moment a payment is declined. Stripe retries the payment up to eight times over approximately two weeks and emails you a link to update your payment method. Your licence continues to work throughout that period.
Your licence key belongs to your subscription. For as long as the subscription is running, the key is yours and does not change. A cancelled subscription cannot be restarted, so to come back you subscribe again — which issues a new key, and you activate that one in place of the old.
| What has happened | Your licence |
|---|---|
| The payment succeeds during the retry period | Nothing changes. The same key carries on working, and there is nothing for you to do. |
| Every retry fails | The subscription is cancelled and Morphé stops producing output. Subscribe again when you are ready, and you receive a new key. |
| You cancel | You keep working to the end of the period you have paid for. If you subscribe again later, you receive a new key. |
| A chargeback is raised with your bank | Morphé stops working as soon as the dispute opens. The subscription is not cancelled automatically: we review each dispute, and normally cancel the subscription so that nothing more is charged, and email you when we do. If the dispute is decided in our favour while the subscription is still running, Morphé works again with the same key; otherwise subscribing again is what restores access, with a new key. Please write to us instead if you can: a dispute takes weeks, and an email usually settles it in a day. |
| An invoiced licence is overdue | Morphé stops after 90 days. Pay the outstanding invoice and the same licence resumes. Morphé picks the change up at its next check: within about six hours while Rhino stays open, the next time Morphé loads in Grasshopper, or at once when you click Recheck now in Morphé → Activate / Manage Licence. |
Whatever the reason, "stopped" never means lost; section 12 explains.
12. What happens when a licence stops
When a subscription ends, a licence is suspended, or an offline window elapses, Morphé soft-disables. That means:
- Morphé still loads, and Rhino and Grasshopper are unaffected.
- Your files still open and remain editable. Nothing is deleted, locked or corrupted, then or at any other time.
- Morphé's components remain on the canvas with their wiring and settings intact, but produce no output. Each displays a warning naming the reason, such as a suspended licence, a computer that is not activated, or an offline period that has run out.
- Anything a Morphé component had already produced, and that you had baked, exported or saved elsewhere, is yours and remains where it is.
Subscribe again or reconnect, and the same definitions calculate as before. There is no data to recover, because nothing was taken away.
13. Refunds
Refunds and cancellation are set out in full in the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: you may cancel at any time from the customer portal and access continues to the end of the period you have paid for; within 14 days of subscribing, within 14 days of the first payment after a free trial, and within 14 days of each yearly renewal, you may cancel and have that payment refunded in full, whether you buy as a consumer or as a business; and outside those periods we do not refund the period you are in. We email you when each of those periods starts: the email with your licence key covers the first, and for the other two we email you within a day of the payment with the date the period ends.
Because Stripe is the merchant of record, Stripe administers refunds and may in some cases issue one directly. A refund does not automatically cancel the subscription or suspend the licence apart from when you cancel and are refunded, in which case we end the subscription at the same time; a partial refund, or one for another reason such as a duplicate charge, changes nothing else.
14. Acceptable use, and when we may suspend a licence
Please use Morphé lawfully, without infringing the rights of others. Do not attempt to attack, overload or probe our licence server, and do not use automated means to create licences or accounts.
We may suspend or terminate a licence (with notice where we reasonably can, and immediately where we cannot) if:
- payment for it fails and is not recovered, or a chargeback is raised;
- the licence is shared, resold, or used on more machines than it permits;
- the activation system is circumvented;
- an education licence is used for commercial work, or eligibility for it cannot be confirmed; or
- we are required to do so by law.
If we suspend a licence by our own error, we reinstate it as soon as we become aware and refund the part of the current period during which it was unavailable. If we terminate a paid subscription for a reason that is not your breach, we refund the unused part of the period.
15. What you need to run Morphé
Morphé is a plug-in. It requires a licensed copy of Rhino 8 with Grasshopper, running on Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). Rhino must run on .NET Core, its default runtime; Morphé does not load in a Rhino switched to .NET Framework. macOS is not supported. We do not supply Rhino; your licence for Rhino is a matter between you and Robert McNeel & Associates.
Certain Morphé features use your graphics hardware. Performance depends on your machine, and we do not promise any particular speed.
16. Changes to the software
Morphé is under active development, and updates are included in your subscription. We may add, change or remove features, and may retire an older version. We will not deliberately break your saved definitions, but a component's behaviour may change between versions where a correction requires it.
We do not warrant that the licence server will be available without interruption. The 14-day offline period exists so that an outage does not prevent you working.
17. Your data
Morphé sends us no telemetry and collects no usage analytics. Your geometry, your files and your Grasshopper definitions never leave your computer. The only data that does is what the licence server needs in order to tie a seat to a computer; the Privacy Policy sets out precisely what that is, who holds it, where, and for how long.
18. Warranty disclaimer
We build Morphé carefully and intend it to work well. Engineering software of this kind nevertheless approximates geometry, and results depend on your inputs, your settings and your hardware.
Except for anything we expressly undertake in these terms, and except for rights the law gives you that cannot be excluded, Morphé is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be error-free, that it will run without interruption, that its output will be fit for any particular purpose, or that a mesh, surface or field it produces is suitable for manufacture, structural use or any other application without your own verification.
Please check the output. Morphé is a tool within a professional workflow, not a substitute for professional judgement, verification or, where the work requires it, certification by a qualified person.
If you are a consumer, nothing in this section affects your statutory rights, including your right to a remedy if the software is not of satisfactory quality, not fit for a purpose you made known to us, or not as described.
19. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.
Subject to that:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; for loss of profit, revenue, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings; for loss or corruption of data; or for the cost of manufacturing, remanufacturing or scrapping anything made from Morphé's output.
- Our total liability arising out of or in connection with this agreement, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, is limited to the total amount you paid for Morphé in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits reflect what you pay for Morphé and the fact that we have no control over how its output is used.
20. Ending this agreement
This agreement runs for as long as you hold a licence, and ends when your last subscription ends; section 12 describes what happens to the software. Provisions that by their nature should survive — ownership, the warranty disclaimer, the limits of liability, and governing law — survive it.
21. Transferring this agreement
You may not transfer your licence to another person or organisation without our written agreement, which we do not withhold from reasonable requests. A change in which employee uses a seat within the same organisation is not a transfer and requires no permission; simply move the seat.
We may transfer this agreement to a company acquiring our business, provided your rights under it are not reduced.
22. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect a change in the software, in the law, or in how the business operates.
- The current version is always published at morphe-design.app/terms, with the date of the last change at the top.
- Where a change materially affects your rights, we will email the address on your subscription at least 30 days before it takes effect.
- A change never applies retrospectively to a period you have already paid for.
- If you do not accept a material change, cancel before it takes effect and you will not be charged again. If you have paid in advance for a period running past the change and you cancel because of it, we refund the unused part.
23. Open-source components
Morphé is built on open-source software. Every third-party component distributed with it is listed — with the licence it is offered under, and the full text of that licence — in the third-party notices, which are available in two places:
- in the file
THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt, installed alongside the Morphé plug-in files, and - online at morphe-design.app/notices, without installing anything.
Those components are licensed to you by their own authors, on their own terms. We do not license them to you under this agreement, and we cannot narrow what their licences allow. Where anything in this agreement conflicts with a component's own licence, that licence governs for that component.
Two components confer rights specific enough to be worth stating here.
- mmg, which Morphé uses for remeshing, is covered by the GNU Lesser General
Public License. We ship it as a separate file,
mmgs.dll, precisely so that you can replace it with a build of your own. Doing so is not a breach of this agreement. We do not support Morphé running against a modified mmg, and a replacement may produce different or invalid meshes, but the right is yours either way. - Fidget, the geometry kernel Morphé is built on, is covered by the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and we have modified it. The source of our modified version is published at github.com/Metamorphic-AM/Fidget.
None of these licences places any obligation on the Grasshopper definitions you write or on the geometry you produce with Morphé. That work is yours.
24. Governing law and jurisdiction
This agreement, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with it, is governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rules of the country in which you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
Before commencing proceedings, please write to us. Most matters are resolved more quickly by email.
25. How to reach us
Email is our preferred channel for support, licensing, cancellations and refunds, and the
quickest way to reach us. Enquiries sent by any other means will still be accepted, but may take
considerably longer to reach us and to be answered. Please quote your subscription reference,
which begins sub_ and appears in every email we send you.
